Finnegan’s Wake: Finnegan’s Wake is a regulars’ bar—regulars who were probably around for Finnegan’s fledgling days, back in the early 1970s. But even though this veteran Upper East Side watering hole tends to attract “Early Bird Special” clientele with deep pockets (think Grey Goosers whose lips have never tasted PBR), pretty young things who count their pennies will like Finnegan’s pub grub (cheap, yet delicious) and staff (ancient, yet amicable). No, Finnegan’s doesn’t offer a happy hour, but dry your eyes—beer prices here won’t hurt your wallet, no matter the time of day. This may not be a hip and happening place, but it’s rich in neighborhood history and great for a quick meal. |
