Fanny: On a street lined with neighborhood Italian places and family-run delis, Fanny is a French pioneer. With dishes ranging from vegetarian paella to a smoked duck and avocado salad, the feeling here is both classy and comfortable. Small dishes are where Fanny really gets good--sides include spinach fricassee and fried artichokes. The inventive desserts are also truly impressive--apple strudel with fig ice cream and roasted rum bananas that will make you want to skip the main course. If you can’t make it for dinner, think about dropping by for brunch as an alternative to the limited options that the street already holds. The first in what’s sure to be a migration of restaurants to this corner of Brooklyn, this Fanny isn’t a behind, but it is ahead of the times. |
