If this joint’s just for employees, pass us an application. Employees Only is sleek without being sterile, odd without being off-putting, and seems almost sinister, without really being so. The entrance is marked only by a sign advertising a fortune teller (sometimes there actually is one). Behind the heavy drapes is a long, dark space with art deco-inspired styling that leads to a divine dining space lit up by an enormous skylight. The dapper mustachioed bar staff is efficient and turns out sophisticated, pricey cocktails that are both classic and inventive. The clientele tends towards the interesting, attractive, and foreign, which lends an additional layer of intrigue to this already very seductive space.
