El Poblano Sports Grill: Dwarfed by a bigger bar next door, this tiny neighborhood establishment feels like it’s at the end of the world, overlooking a massive bridge and two huge smokestacks from the scenic crag of Third Avenue. Barely in Park Slope, El Poblano caters to the local, mainly Latino crowd that drops in to enjoy a cold cerveza, watch the game, and maybe have a bite of Mexican food, all to a jukebox of Latin classics. On Friday and Saturday this is one happening hacienda, but on weeknights El Poblano is one lonely hombre. Still, its diner-style booths are inviting, and the well-stocked bar doesn’t disappoint. This pleasant little nightspot has avoided the hipster morass of Fifth Avenue, and odds are good that trend will continue. |
