Double Windsor: Might this be a good place to "tie" one on? Sorry, couldn't resist. But, to answer our question, the jury's out, as new Park Slope pub Double Windsor is going for more of a Modern American, duck-confit sandwich vibe. As of this writing, though, the menu has not been announced (nor, seemingly, even prepared), but we can sure vouch for the beer! The eclectic brew list ranges from $14 to $3; we especially enjoyed the Captain Lawrence Captain’s Reserve Double IPA, flowing on draft—six dollars, one strong buzz. The joint houses a darkly-stained U-shaped bar favoring utility and offering ample gathering space, while tables and chairs are scattered near the large open windows. Yes, it's a very inviting spot, but beware: within may lay the same esoteric battles-of-the-hip found right in the LES (fiitting, considering the place shares ownership with Cake Shop). So if you end up here, get ready to discuss which Pavement B-side you liked the best. |
