Doc Holliday's: No pretension, nothing fancy—just come here to get rip-roaring drunk on cans of $2 PBRs. Reminiscent of the ambiance in Urban Cowboy, the license-plate décor and general country and western vibe have the NYU kids sloshing around with 2-for-1 drink specials. It’s a New York staple—almost a place that you love to hate, but are forced to visit at least once in Manhattan, if only to prove that you aren’t 100-percent yuppie. So go get ’em and saddle up for a bar that’s a little bit country, a little bit rock and roll, and a little bit Hogs & Heifers, as evidenced by the scantily clad bartenders dancing on the bar. The Doc falls a bit short, but what the hell, it’s still fun. |
