Ditch Plains: Sure the scene is Page Six-worthy and the seafood is fresher than a shot of Febreeze, but the jitney ride and Lily Pulitzer prints are enough to make anyone dread a trip to the Hamptons. Marc Murphy, owner of Landmarc, feels your pain and has brought Ditch Plains to the West Village. Shack-like favorites of fried clams, chowder, and lobster rolls are on the menu starting at 7am. Also on hand are goodies like the ditch dog (a hot dog topped with mac & cheese), burgers, and all-day breakfast offerings until 2am—just in case you need some kumamoto with your eggs to really recreate a middle-of-the-night Montauk moment. Oyster shooters, made with Landmarc's famous Bloody Mary mix, are where the kitsch ends for this urban surf spot. You'll find no tiki torches here, but you will find big-screen TVs and Wi-Fi. So what if you can't smell the salty sea air? Neither can those suckers stuck in jitney traffic. |
