Dempsey’s: Rocket science isn’t being performed here—it’s an Irish bar in the East Village with a pint of Guinness as its cocktail du jour. There’s a bit of a gloomy, “Angela’s Ashes” vibe going on, but maybe it’s all the dim lighting. You can always liven things up by acquainting yourself with the flat-screen plasmas, darts, and pool. Plus, a state-of-the-art digital jukebox is always fun—if you can figure out how to use it. No worries, after a few shots of anything Irish, your biggest concern won’t be the jukebox. Two-for-one happy hour specials can make anybody feel good.
