Death & Co.: While Death & Co.’s interior, with low ceilings, faux-marble walls, and glinting candles might seem macabre, the atmosphere is anything but. When asked about happy hour, a straight-faced barkeep will respond: “Every hour here is extremely happy.” And with the range of cocktails, food, beer, and wine, it’s easy to see why. The drinks are carefully crafted with big blocks of ice and attention to detail—something rarely seen at busy bars these days. The wine list is deep—think six feet deep—with over 45 bottles to choose from, and 10 imported beers as a nice garnish. Even on a Tuesday night Death & Co. is bustling, and you can spend a long time waiting (Purgatory?) for one of their 55 seats. In the meantime, stand at the bar, try a “Fancy Free” (all cocktails $12), and see how great eternity can be. |
