Dardanel: In an area of midtown that borders on the Upper East Side but suffers from a serious restaurant drought, Dardanel comes to the rescue. This new nautically-themed seafood spot offers up shrimp shish kebabs and whole, fried just-about-anything flown directly from all areas of the Mediterranean sea without, somehow, breaking your bank. The house specialties for land lovers are an equally great value; only the lamb chops will set you back more than $20. The wine list is surprisingly comprehensive, offering over 40 bottles of reds and whites. With hearty, affordable food and a good selection of wine already taken care of, our only advice is to be careful not to stumble into a chandelier shop on your way home. Open daily 4pm-11pm.
