Danube: From the beautifully detailed walls and richly hued red ceiling to the exceptional service (the check literally arrives on a silver platter), every aspect of Danube’s bar is simply sublime. The Austrian-inspired lounge space, like the attached David Bouley-run restaurant, tends to attract romantic couples exchanging whispers on the long velvet couch, but less amorous patrons won’t feel ostracized sipping cocktails at the bar or seated at the little window-side tables nestled along the wall. You’d be wise to impress a date or cap off an anniversary dinner with a drink from its well-edited wine and cocktail list. Drinks are pricey, but worth it. |
