D.J. Reynolds: This small, neighborhood bar is not a hotspot by any estimation, but a steady flow of local regulars keep the atmosphere lively. As a refreshing change of pace to trendier bars, D.J.’s (as regulars call it) is a place where you can have a conversation without having to yell over a loud Britney-pumping jukebox or a pack of co-eds looking for a hook-up. The small restaurant in the back offers fine bar food and ample room for post-theater get-togethers and mingling with larger groups of friends. Like its neighbors, D.J.’s is most often frequented by the older, after-work crowds, but on weekend nights it can become packed with students from the nearby Fordham University celebrating the opening of a new play, the end of class, or a Rams victory. (Yes, Fordham has sports.) |
