Crescent Lounge: If you’re a recluse who keeps to yourself, or a snobby socialite who travels in a cliquey pack, please don’t bother with Astoria’s cozy Crescent Lounge. The intimate, curved bar allows for some good old-fashioned face time (as opposed to, say, Facebook time). After a few cocktails or choice bottles of beer, you’re more likely than not to start a random conversation and make a new real-life friend. Due to a popular gay bartender and fabulous interior design, over the years Crescent has sometimes flirted with being a gay bar, but like the diverse borough of Queens itself, the crowd here defies stereotypes. It’s an all-welcoming neighborhood joint at heart. So pull up a stool under the moody globe lights, or lounge on the fancy red-and-white striped couch, play some board games, and be gay (by any definition). It doesn’t matter: You're all God’s drunken creatures here.
