If you're willing to go to the ends of the earth (i.e. 12th Avenue) to get your fix of a reality TV star (and great chef) in action, that's exactly what you'll get at Crave on 42nd, where you'll find "Top Chef's" Dave Martin bustling around, giving suggestions and making sure patrons are happy. The slogan, "Think bistro. Dine casual," tips you off to a slight identity crisis, validated by the dubious décor (complete with colored Christmas lights) and the 20-seat bar with TVs playing classic movies and sports. If you're not just here to experience Martin's famous black truffle mac and cheese, the worldly wine list is promising, each bottle thoughtfully paired off with a meal. And stay tuned—according to Martin, they will be adding outdoor seating and creating a sexy brunch scene, which should be enough to convince theater-goers and reality TV junkies alike to make the trek.
I ate at Crave on 42 on thursday night and must say that every aspect of the night was fabulous. I was with 12 colleagues and we shared many different items on the menu. EVERYTHING was great!!! the staff was friendly and the vibe perfect. two thumbs up.
