Corton: Since closing in 2006, the former TriBeCa trailblazer Montrachet has reopened this fall as Corton. From the same owner, restaurateur Drew Nieporent (Nobu, Tribeca Grill), and chef Paul Liebrandt (Gilt, Atlas) deliver modern French cooking in a white 65-seat dining room with vaulted ceilings, chartreuse furniture, and touches of gold. Like Montrachet, Corton is named after rich Burgundy chardonnay, so the décor reflects the sparkle of the white wine. Choose from either a $76 three-course pre-fixe or $110 seven-course tasting menu, with selections that have included Label Rouge chicken with artichoke barigoule and brown bread-oyster jus. Recession, we hardly knew ye. |
