Connolly’s Pub & Restaurant: Practice your brogue and meet your friends for an end-of-the-day pint at this three-story pub near Times Square (make sure you tell ’em 45th Street, because with four other Connolly’s Midtown locations, you’d be playing phone tag for a while). There are 20 beers on tap (including its own Jersey-brewed Celtic Boch), some friendly ex-pats, and a bevy of local suits hanging around the cherry bar. The warm-wood-toned décor is accented with stained glass and offers a comfortable old-world atmosphere, with a usual assortment of pub grub, in addition to some Emerald Isle favorites such as beef stew, making up the restaurant’s menu. If you’re looking for some traditional Celtic tunes, Black 47 is the lively local band that calls Connolly’s home every Saturday night at 10pm. Should that not get you here, then drag out your “Lord of the Dance” for weekly sessions of line (Tuesday), swing (Friday), or disco (also Friday) dancing. |
