Coney Island Surf & Turf Grill: Whether it’s to ride the Cyclone or watch Liza belt out a breathless ditty in Asser Levy Park, even the strictest outer borough-phobes have their reasons for visiting Coney Island. And there to catch all the summer attraction spillover is the Coney Island Surf & Turf Grill, a bright, beach-themed pub owned by the same family that operates landmark eatery Gargiulo’s. Inside, it’s all nautical rope and fishnets. Concrete floors and a garage door lifted during the warmer months practically beg for the sandy, barefooted tourists it typically attracts. Drinks are reasonable (around $5 for a Coney Island Ice Tea—Long Island’s sweeter, more citrusy cousin), and the mostly seafood menu (think beer-drowned mussels with spicy Tabasco onions) is available until midnight. Open Sun-Thu 11am-10pm, Fri-Sat 11:30am-4am.
