Comedy Village: Comedy still seems to be the realm of the dorky male—at least onstage, that is. But their loss of dignity is your gain at this Greenwich Village laugh factory. The unembellished simplicity of the Comedy Village’s interior may scream Elk Lodge to you, but the décor, $5-$10 cover charge, and two-drink minimum are a tiny price to pay (especially when you consider the $5 apple martinis) for the unique talent (usually mainstays of late-night talk shows and Comedy Central) who appear here. The house will bring out pizza if you hang around long enough, too. Here’s guessing this is a great date spot; very few guys seem to show up without their favorite shoulder to laugh on. It’s a new place, but the owners will surely have the last laugh. |
