Cocoa Bar: Cocoa Bar may just be the perfect place to take that Internet date whose photo, you suspect, dates back a good 7 1/2 years. Part café, part wine bar, part chocolatier, you can linger here over a solid selection of wines by the glass if things look hopeful, or order a quick espresso if things look bleak. And if you really need to mourn your luckless love life, you can indulge in one of Cocoa Bar’s “suggested pairings” of booze and chocolate coma-inducers: merlot and dark chocolate orange peels, dry sherry with organic dipped chocolate toffee. With a back room filled with comfy chairs and a cement outdoor garden lined with mosaics, the new Park Slope bar has a good deal of space, but the seating is sparse enough so that you’re not the honorary third party in your neighbors' conversations. |
