Clover Club: When someone asks you if you want to go out for highballs, you may imagine sitting in an English library sipping from snifters and smoking cigars while talking about the latest European trade referendum. Flatiron co-owner Julie Reiner may have had the same image in mind when designing the backroom of her latest cocktail venture, Clover Club. With dark wood paneling, marble fireplaces, and antique baroque chairs, this cocktail den is about as genteel as they get. The front room acts as more of bistro, serving high-end finger foods (designed by consulting chef Gavin Citron of Pegu Club) like deviled eggs, caviar, and innovative burgers. But why waste valuable stomach room on food when the art of the cocktail is alive and well in this stately lounge? Potations here taste amazing—painstakingly mixed by hand using only fresh ingredients. London-style Southside Fizz, anyone? Bring it on. |
