Cielo: Operating at a point between hot and cool, Cielo simmers without boiling. A steady influx of international DJs run this house party, which is geared toward those who love to dance. There aren’t a lot of full-fledged dance floors in Manhattan these days, but Cielo has one and it’s a good one. There’s no parking on the busy sunken square that sits front and center under a huge disco ball, where it’s surrounded by banquettes. Eurotrash, Euro chic, spicy South Americans, and B&Ts all come here to strut their stuff under a Miami-inspired design where padded walls with lit inlays flash in time with the music. This isn’t a celebrity spot at all and the place couldn’t care less. Here, it’s all about the music, man. |
