Chow Bar: Chow Bar’s name indicates a struggle between restaurant and bar, and the restaurant wins. It’s not as fabulous as other Asian restaurants and it’s certainly not as trendy, cavernous, and over the top as places like Buddha Bar, Tao, and Morimoto. What it is, though, is a nice little spot for some tuna and sake, or maybe a ginger cosmo or watermelon martini soaked up by a calamari salad and spare ribs. Just off the craziness of Seventh Avenue South, Chow Bar’s outside seating allows good people-watching without the danger of drunken girls in too-high stilettos crashing into you. Just go easy on the white sake sangria—that stuff will knock you on your ass. |
