Chestnut Bar: This bar, an expansion of Chestnut restaurant, feels like a cross between a medieval parlor and an Amish barn—austere yet comfortable. A handful of tea candles and a few dim lanterns test your night vision and play off the distressed wooden beams above. All the items on the contemporary "green" menu are hand-picked and prepared by Chef Daniel Eardley (Washington Park). As expected, the cuisine is seasonal, and it's complemented by an ample wine selection with varietals from all over the world. As far as date spots go, the mood in Chestnut Bar is sublime, but be sure to bring enough cash—an atmosphere like this will cost ya.
