Cherry Tree: Putting roots down in the middle of one of Park Slope’s last decrepit stretches (Fourth Ave. at Bergen St.), the Cherry Tree is a fine stop for the local budget-minded, event-seeking drinker. $4 happy hour cocktails get you in the door; $3 pints of Harp, theme nights (movies, trivia, etc.), and the cheerful staff keep you there. There''s a comprehensive, international list of bottled beers, and a charming patio to enjoy them in. The crowd is young, varied, and having a great time. That said, gigantic scented candles, an Irish flag, and a freakin'' Jägermeister tap system don''t exactly scream Park Slope. In fact, you half expect to stumble out of the place at the end of the night and see your old frat house. Or Boston. So be forewarned, especially on karaoke night: This is the sort of place that cheers renditions of “Margaritaville.” Loudly. |
