Charlotte @ the Millennium Hotel: Hustle and bustle is the name of the game around Times Square and The Millennium, like many hotels in the area, aims to create a soothing contemporary atmosphere in which their guests can retreat. The polished and posh restaurant Charlotte serves New American cuisine to its chic and wannabe chic clientele. Suited execs recap the deal of the day while tourists from Texas trot out their street purchases at the nearby bar and lounge with its ubiquitous wood tones, low tables, and cushy black leather chairs. Overall, the place has location—albeit touristy—a decadent drink menu with a few frothy concoc-tions (the Vanilla Crisp Martini is refreshing), 11 beers by the bottle, and a fine selection of whiskeys, cognacs, and port. At $10.95 the cocktails are decently priced by New York standards and, when taking a break between shows or shopping, make this a good reason to grab a short reprieve before heading back into the madding crowds of Manhattan. |
