Centro Vinoteca: While its name gets no points for subtlety, the vino at this aptly named “vinoteca” is being doled out by the quartino (1/3 carafe), meaning you’re in for a fuzzy night of purple teeth, swooning eyes, and groping hands (which may just be your own). But unless you’re sitting down for a full meal, a pit stop here may be a hassle. With barely any room at the ground-level curved bar and the inhumane wait time for a table, the winos will rarely find comfort here. Really, who wants to be double-fisting their five-star wine at a four-star establishment? If you’re lucky enough to grab a seat, take advantage of the contemporary Italian cuisine from chef Anne Burrell who creates tapas-like apps called piccolini. Just be sure you’ve got steady legs under you before you start diving into the raw meat. |
