Cello Wine Bar: A laid-back, unpretentious, tourist-free wine bar...in Midtown? It almost doesn't seem possible, but sure enough, Midtown newbie Cello somehow sounds out the perfect medley of fine wines and good ol' hanging out. The space is very small (sorry, cozy), and maybe a desire for that feeling is why the place dispensed with the super-sleek furniture and weird lighting that seems to come with every other NYC wine bar. If anything, the wood-and-brick decor makes Cello look more like a place for whiskey and brawling than an after-work glass of fine Montepulciano. As for the grape, Cello features a rolling selection of 12 choices of whites and another 12 of reds from around the globe—with glasses ranging from $9-15, there's always room for Cello.
