Cattyshack: When landmark lesbian bar Meow Mix closed up shop, its owner followed many of her patrons across the bridge to Park Slope’s edge. Bi-level lesbian dance club Cattyshack is the large, happy result. Female couples abound, naturally, but this bar and its frequent events truly offer something for everyone—regardless of gender or sexual preference. To wit, beyond the pool table downstairs, there’s a dark, sweaty dance floor often featuring dance music of the hip-hop variety, plus the occasional pole dancer. Upstairs, a smaller, homier brick-walled room plays ’70s and ’80s dance tunes, and sometimes country or Latin. There are two full bars with great specials, and a spacious upstairs deck with patio furniture. Pick your poison, pick your gender preference, and pick your playmate. |
