Casellula: The idea of wine and cheese before a night at the theater may sound a bit stuffy, but once you add beer to the equation, all judgments can be left aside. That's what's you'll find at Casellula, situated in Hell's Kitchen, "the new downtown." Casellula is an amiable, relaxed environment that serves up guilty pleasures: beer, cheese, and, yes, wine too (over 70 bottles). The key is to chow down on some of 40 rare cheeses from around the world (semi-hard, washed, bloomy, etc.) and wash them down with the trendiest of new, wholesome local beers, Red Hook's Sixpoint. Just make sure not to indulge in too much of the combination or it'll be a bumpy ride through your viewing of "Spamalot." |
