Casaville: A French/Moroccan restaurant with a Spanish name in Murray Hill—you might expect Casaville to suffer from the sort of identity crisis that so often afflicts fusion restaurants. But Casaville benefits from this cultural coordination, working together so well it would make a foreign diplomat green with envy. Avocado adds depth to a hummus appetizer, and the chicken tagine—big enough to feed a small African village—is delicious, and at $14, a relative steal. Later in the week and into the weekend, the restaurant turns down the lights and cranks up the volume, occasionally veering into hopped-up jazz club territory with a live quartet. Depending on your age and your mood, you'll either love or hate the impromptu party vibe (we loved it, of course.) |
