Carne Vale:
Usually the mere mention of the word “Brazilian” makes everyone in the room suddenly perk up. There’s a sexiness to the food, the culture, and the language that people seem to be undeniably drawn to. (OK, or maybe it’s all thanks to Gisele and those J Sisters?) Carne Vale is the latest Brazilian restaurant/bar to join the relatively small NYC cadre from the ownership of popular Middle Eastern hotspot, Le Souk (conveniently located right across the street) and chef Diego Silva (BLT, Plataforma). One of the most surprising features of Carne Vale is that it’s an East Village bar that’s well, spacious. The wide and airy venue opens to the street in warmer months, and if the lethally strong mojitos don’t get you in the mood for an exotic culinary adventure (or explorations of the other kind of Brazilian), the hypnotizing homeland beats certainly will.
