Canal Room: Canal Room, once home to the crème de la crème of stars like Diddy, has lost some of its A-list appeal. Now, you’re more likely to see a flannel-clad 45-year-old guy closing his eyes and nodding his head to the music than any blinged-out superstar. Not to fear—it’s still a wild time where you can see the occasional pop idol, and with booming elevated speakers posted at every corner, you can probably kick it to a couple of their songs too. Black and white couches are sprinkled throughout just in case your moves shouldn’t be brought out in public. Dainty vanilla drapes adorn windows that stretch from floor to ceiling, allowing outsiders a peek in at the cavorting crowd inside. What they’ll see are live performances running the gamut from Deborah “Don’t Call Me Debbie” Gibson to Canadian folkette Sarah Harmer, a very mixed crowd, and—oh baby—empanadas on sale at the bar. |
