Cafe Habana:
When the weather turns warm, the crowds at Café Habana turn this corner of Nolita into their own sidewalk fiesta. Sure, you’ll wait up to an hour to be jammed into a table so tiny that any sudden movement could topple your two-top, but the food is muy delicioso. This tiny dive is known for serving up some of the tastiest and most authentic Cuban food north of Miami. Get ready to dig into gooey cheese-coated grilled corn and ginormous Cuban sandwiches while swigging on mojitos—just be sure to keep your elbows close to your sides. Sound messy? Don’t worry about using half a forest to towel off—this eco-eatery uses post-consumer recycled paper goods in addition to biodegradable cornstarch cups and utensils and high-efficiency lighting.
