Perched on the third floor of the South Street Seaport mall, Cabana boasts a panoramic view of the East River that sweeps from the Brooklyn Bridge all the way down to the Statue of Liberty. The view is really quite impressive. Less impressive, however, is Cabana itself, which has all the soul and authenticity of a Club Med (and about as many tourists). The Latin-Caribbean-inspired menu is comprehensive, though pricey, and the same can be said of the drinks. All of these factors are more tolerable when Cabana’s giant outdoor patio is open, but still, there may be better alternatives. Maybe buy a few sandwiches at a Cuban deli and hit up the Staten Island ferry. The ride is free, the views are just as good, and the beer is only $3 a pop.
