Buttermilk Channel: Downtown Brooklyn has it good these days, with bistros like No. 7, Bussaco, and, now Buttermilk Channel bringing quality New American cuisine across the river. Chef Ryan Angulo manages the high-end comfort food balance ably, with mouth-watering dishes like Duck Meatloaf with creamy spinach ravioli and duck jus ($20) and buttermilk fried chicken with cheddar waffles (!) and winter vegetable slaw ($18). And don’t forget the house-cured bacon, the American wine list, and the separate vegetarian menu.
