Arguably the most well-known family of bars in the city, Brother Jimmy’s brings a down-home Southern spirit to the big bad city and manages to succeed despite the fact that they really have no business doing so. The 92nd Street Brother Jimmy’s is the smallest of the three, which is to its detriment because the seating area takes up the majority of the bar, and it becomes an incredibly uncomfortable place to be when the crowds start pouring in—and during the daily happy hour, pour in they do. Even if the Southern style-menu isn’t your cup of tea, Brother Jimmy’s still offers down home hospitality with karaoke Thursdays, and even the fastest-talking city-slicker can appreciate $1 after-work beers.
