Brooklyn Inn: It’s hard not to be immediately attracted to the Brooklyn Inn, on a purely visual basis. Flanked by skinny, arched windows and swathed in elegant furnishings of rich reds and browns, this spacious, high-ceilinged bar feels both invitingly cozy and untouchably antique. Oversized mirrors behind the bar create a cavernous, open feel, but even on the (frequent) crowded nights, a few nooks and crannies can still be found among the ornate wooden paneling that lines the main room. The sizeable back room has a small but busy pool table, gracefully lit by a low-hanging copper light fixture, and the jukebox is, by all accounts, excellent. As for the human half, the bartenders won’t win any awards for friendliest service, but in this architectural gem, no one really cares. |
