Brooklyn Ale House:
If there was a bar that all new establishments should model themselves on, it would undoubtedly be the Brooklyn Ale House. Stocked with local beers, bowls of peanuts, and a tiny yet popular pool table, this spot has managed to stay free of the supposed local flavor that’s invaded so many other spots. Besides the music that changes nightly with the bartender’s mood, the big draws here include the annual chili cook-off (that’s right, you hipster vegans—chili!), free WiFi, and drink specials that are the reason half-day summer Fridays were invented. This isn’t the spot for a wild night on the town, but if you’re looking to grab a few cold ones and toss some peanut shells on the floor, there’s a seat inside just for you...and your dog.
Everyone here is very friendly and laid back. They have hot apple cider that you can jazz up with your favorite liquor. The peanuts are a real bonus. I've also seen free bagels in here on a saturday.... great place.
