Brinkley's: So how about this for trying to have it both ways: "locally sourced" British food. Even before you get through the doors at Brinkley's—the latest joint from the brothers behind Bar Martignetti—you'll get the message from the hand-lettered windows. Local beer, local food, local locals! Of course, one thing that's not local is the executive chef Ben Towill, a certified Brit who gives the menu its English accents. In fact, just about every item on the menu is inspired by our former oppressors across the pond, including pork-and-stilton bangers and fritters with mushy peas. (Locally sourced mushy peas, of course). Once you get past the gimmick, you will enjoy a very charming and spacious rendition of an old English pub. Plus, weekends sees the kitchen serving till 2 am, making this a primo spot for post clubbing, no matter where the bangers are coming from. |
