Bread Bar @ Tabla: From its location in the Met Life building, you’d think that this exotic Indian restaurant appeals to the hoity-toity foreign dignitary type. But they do have a beer called Smuttynose India Pale Ale ($8), which sounds silly enough. Versus Eleven Madison Park, its neighbor and sister restaurant, Bread Bar at Tabla is equally impressive to look at, but much more inviting, with warm tones and homey touches. Hungry? The lounge is hidden under the stairs, so it offers a bit of privacy for nibbling...on your date. If you’re hungry for food, snack on plates of Indian-inspired tapas. In the summer, sit outdoors with a specialty drink like the Ginger Citrus Snap ($12), and remember to bring some bread, or better still, the company credit card—you’ll want to try all of the 30+ small plates. |
