Never thought you’d end up drinking wine on the Bowery? Guess again. Gather up your spare change and head over to the Bowery Wine Company, a new addition to the increasingly gentrified Lower East Side’s mammoth Avalon Bowery Place. East Village lifers may snort at the sterile interior, complete with (gasp!) track lighting, but there’s plenty of seating for discerning oenophiles to sample the swill. More than a bar, it’s also a lunch spot for condo dwellers, serving paninis and salads. Expect patio seating in the spring, and keep an eye out for part-owner, Bruce Willis. So there you have it—die hard, skid row.
