Bogart’s: With its glowing counters, massive windows, and private booths, Bogart’s emits a club-lite atmosphere. But with their loose neckties, business cards, and harried expressions, Bogart’s clientele seems to betray the aesthetics, instead creating an after-work scene. Hey, yuppies can have fun too—that’s where expense accounts help. The drinks are pricey, the bartenders are perpetually busy, and the crowd skews heavily male. Of all the gin joints in town, you don’t have to walk into Bogart’s, but if you do, definitely stick around until the downstairs club scene picks up, complete with hip-hop DJs and hip-shaking dancers. It’s hard to say what they’re going for in this hybrid, but for better or worse, they’re getting a little of everything. |
