Blondies: Not a single square inch of your peripheral vision will be able to avoid a TV set presenting a sporting event in this Upper West Side sports bar. Kind of an ESPN Zone meets after-work watering hole, Blondies has its die-hards, and has been known to make fans out of newbies—usually those who own jerseys and beer caps. The horseshoe-shaped pub is all bar on one side, and more of a restaurant table-service-type place on the other. While it can get loud and raucous, there is a sheen to the place that sets it apart from similar intellectual-free spots in the area. A word of warning: The bigger the game on a given night, the more the male/female ratio tips to the XY. |
