Blaggard's Pub (35th St.): What's in a name? In the case of Blaggard's Pub—blaggard being slang for "a man who uses foul language in front of a woman of high standing"—not much. Why? Because you won't find many women of high-standing (or any other type, for that matter) here. Everything else in this decaying relic, though, gets the blaggard seal of approval, from cracked tile floors to the fading pictures of a bygone New York that Blaggard's clearly belonged to. The good news is that the place is packed with friendly drunks who aren't glued to their iPhones (because they still use payphones), and who are definitely not searching for cooler people or cooler places to be (unless OTB counts). If you're the type that claims to miss the old New York—well, rookie—here's your chance to prove it. |
