Blackout: Has Greenpoint finally become "North Williamsburg"? Up until now, most of the bars in this predominantly Polish neighborhood have either been, well, Polish or neighborhood-y. Then again, none of them have been opened by the owners of a hipper-than-thou 'Burg boutique (in this case, Oak). So here's a heads (or nose) up at what to expect: a young and fashion-conscious crowd, mingling amidst shiny counters and chic, deco light fixtures, all accompanied by throbbing electro. With a backroom prone to dance parties andan outside patio for the smokers, the vibe at Blackout actually goes past mid-market Williamsburg straight to the heart of the L.E.S. Fitting for a place that serves a cocktail named The Orchard (Appleton rum, Pimm's and apple juice)—though, with a reasonable $8 price tag, it's the only proof that you're even in Greenpoint. |
