Black Mountain Wine House: You want a bar that’s not like a bar, with a good atmosphere, off the main drag…you know, a place you can go if you want to hide in a corner, but you still have the option of meeting some effen awesome people, then this is your spot. In the warmer months, settle into one of the Adirondack chairs on the deck of Black Mountain Wine House. Tucked away from hopping Smith St., it feels like a cozy country home, with bookshelves filled with wine bottles and a small bar for chatting up strangers. Weekly beer and cocktail specials are scrawled on a chalkboard, and though the wine menu is extensive, Shane’s pick is always your best (and cheapest) bet. Small plates like white bean crostini and cold cuts are available for $10 and cheese plates from France, Spain, and Italy for $4 will help soak up the booze. Just like home, without the dysfunction! |
