Black Bear Lodge: At the good ol’ Black Bear Lodge, the snow shoes at the door draw you in, but the cozy ski lodge-esque vibe and bucket of Pabst and Natty Light ($15, $10 during happy hour) are what keep you there. With the influx of mountain, lodge, and skiing references (i.e. Big Buck Hunter II videogame, antler light fixtures, bucks ’n’ does bathrooms, and moose alert signs), you’d never know you were entering Jay-Z-blaring turf. The endless holiday lights and decorations and cheesy, old-school Urban Outfitters candles are a bit over the top, but the fireplace, darts, flat-screen TVs, and picnic tables for card games make up for it. This is not your average crowd from the neighborhood, so leave your new Balenciaga bag at home and come thirsty for their signature Pepper Fuckers ($5/shot) and Cherry Bombs ($1 for four cherries). |
