Bette:
Amy Sacco’s Bette is certainly not the Bungalow 8 of restaurants, but it’s not bad either. The highly stylized room is always chock-full of celebrities who enjoy this upscale, dark wood, 1980s-inspired beauty salon design where tables are very close together and do-it-all waiters make themselves invisible until needed. A very small bar with very good cocktails welcomes visitors who wait for frequent guests like Courtney Cox and David Arquette to leave their table. Chef Ken Addington’s dishes include lobster spaghettini ($22) and parma ham with pomegranate and smoked date dressing ($12). Older couples in suits are as commonplace as hipsters in jeans and blazers, and reservations are highly recommended. This is one of those New York hotspots where if you see someone who looks like a celebrity, it’s probably that person. Refrain from gawking with your mouth full.
