Berry Bistro:
In a city where the next best meal of your life can come anywhere from the deli on the corner to the hotspot you’ve been trying to reserve for months, New Yorkers have no tolerance for mediocrity. And newly opened Berry Bistro is mediocre at best. With its liquor license pending, this perennially empty 24-seat restaurant serves up bland food, inadvertently flavored by the cardinal sin of dining—a scented candle, whose cough-inducing aroma peppers your unseasoned Goulash with a little taste of head shop. With no bar and no one to talk to, you’ll be soberly staring at the pinkish-purpley walls wondering why Berry Bistro possesses not a single item on its menu bearing the fruit of its namesake. Do yourself a favor and go grab a vodka cranberry somewhere else.

I am not sure why the previous review was so mean and inaccurate. I would like to respond and let you all know that I have been a customer of Berry Bistro for the past two months and I love it. The decor, the atmosphere and the service is great. They have 3 young people waiting tables and they are fantastic. Not to mention food. The menu is definitely eclectic and different. That Goulash is the best I had, seasoned to perfection and served with baked stuffing and red cabbage. Try chef's portobello cigars with truffle oil; french pastry filled with mushrooms and goat cheese, or his salmon platter with latkes, red caviar and capers. My favorite dish is the crepes with spinach, pine nuts, cranberries and gorgonzola mousse. And believe me, they do serve berries with most of their dishes. They do not have the wine license yet but they do have regulars who come to enjoy their food. Berry Bistro is not a bar. Wine will only compliment its intriguing menu.
