Benjamin Steakhouse: Some places were made for expense accounts and parent’s weekend. Benjamin Steakhouse is one of those places. An impressive 10-foot fireplace warms a room already heated with dark wood and leather accents. The menu is typical steakhouse fare: lobster bisque, jumbo shrimp cocktail, salads of cheese and tomato, tender filet mignon and the house specialty - a brontosaurus-like porterhouse for two that is served precut and sizzling (of course). The drinks, however, are just as, if not more, impressive than the food menu. The wine list is a leather bound novella of rare finds (only a handful by the glass though). Surprisingly enough, it’s actually the expertly prepared martinis that seem to be the preferred pairing among the carnivorous crowd. Sadly, they’re not dino-sized, but hey, you can’t have it all. |
